A young woman was killed early Sunday morning in a rear-end collision on I-4 in Tampa. This accident happened at 3:30 am.
The lawyers here at Brooks Law Group see numerous fatalaties and it seems that a good number of them occur late at night. Night driving is inherently more difficult because its dark. When adding alcohol to the mix (night time produces more alcohol related traffic accidents) it becomes readily apparent that night time driving is clearly the most dangerous time to drive.
Some tips for safe night driving:
1. Turn your headlights on when it starts to turn dark. Dusk is a dangerous time because your eyes are adjusting from light to dark.
2. Reduce speed. Remember you can only see as far as your headlights let you see.
3. If driving for more than 1 hours, stop and take frequent breaks.
4. Make sure your lights are on low beam for opposing traffic and also for any vehicles directly in front of you.
Last but not least, do not drink alcohol! Not drinking alcohol is probably the single biggest thing you can do to improve your night driving success.
