I4 is The Deadliest Highway in the US

Categories:Auto Accidents

If you’ve ever traveled to Tampa or Daytona from here in Winter Haven, chances are you have driven on Interstate 4, or known to locals as “I4.” According to research, I4 has been named the most deadly highway in the country. Even though this stretch of pavement is only 132 miles long, this highway is averaging 1.41 fatalities per mile. That is almost 185 deaths!

There are many causes of automobile accidents in Florida. Some of the causes include driver fatigue, drunk driving, speeding, aggressive driving, and the weather. However, distracted driving is in the lead causing 25-50% of all motor vehicle accidents. Distractions can include texting/talking on cell phones, applying make-up, eating, and daydreaming.

You can do your part in avoiding these accidents by keeping your eyes on the road, hands on the steering wheel, and staying alert. Do not become a statistic, do your part in keeping our roads safe. If you or a loved one suffered an injury related to a motor vehicle accident due to another person’s negligence, please call us at (863) 299-1962.
