Camp Lejeune – Did the United States Government Abandon Our Veterans?

My numerous family members were not affected, but unfortunately many veterans and their family members that served at Camp Lejeune were harmed, not by a foreign nation, but by toxic water they encountered while on base at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina.

We want to be there for all our service members that may have been affected by the toxic water at Camp Lejeune.  If you were at Camp Lejeune for 30 days anytime between 1953 and 1987 then I encourage you to look into a claim. Brooks Law Group is a top-rated, statewide, injury law firm with offices in Tampa, Winter Haven, and Lakeland. I have always looked up to and respected men and women that serve or have served in the military – I refer to their devotion as sacrificial service. The pay is not great, and many times they are asked to serve in very dangerous war environments resulting in the loss of life. We honor the members of the military who willingly put their life on the line to maintain our freedom and way of life we are so privileged with in the United States.

Brooks Family Service

I had a couple of uncles that diligently served our country in battle during World War II, and in the following years, my father served in the Army and a different uncle served in the Navy. Interestingly, our family service traces back to the Civil War – where my great great grandfather was the surgeon general of the State of Ohio for the Union Army. We have a letter from my great great grandfather written to his wife from the battlefields of the Civil War.

By the time my brother and I reached draft age, the Vietnam war was winding down, and we were not drafted. This was about the time that our country’s emphasis shifted to a volunteer army.

One of our former attorneys, Charles Laycock Sr. (now deceased), worked at Camp Lejeune as an attorney with the Army Corps of Engineers.

My brother (Beach Brooks Jr.) and nephew’s (Beach Brooks III) father-in-law/grandfather, Ed O’Donnell, was an air force aviator, who served his country for more than 20 years. Ed’s war stories of his 100 flights over Vietnam during the conflict with North Vietnam were scary, thrilling and kept us on the edge of our seats.  It’s these folks that make our country great.
