Wedding bells are ringing! One of our case managers is tying the knot! Amanda and Korey met ten years ago at Lilian’s in downtown Lakeland. The last thing on her mind was that this was the man she would spend the rest of her life with, (no offense Korey.) But as time moved on, things began to change. Amanda and Korey welcomed a sweet baby girl into the world and have been head over heels for each other since. In the last ten years they have grown together and have completely changed their lifestyles. They have been blessed with two children together, Aejah in 2007 and Kiahni in 2010, and Korey is an amazing step father to her oldest son Jason. Amanda says their love story really started when she began praying for Korey instead of herself.

Recently, they have found a home at Heritage Baptist Church where they attend Wednesday night and Sunday services and are excited about getting more involved. Korey volunteers with the Special Olympics and the Florida Baptist Children’s Home where he was raised as a child. Both Amanda and Korey are excited to help at every event they can for Brooks Law Group. The pair have a passion for serving others and always do it with a smile. They have high hopes of buying a home together which is full of a little friendly competition because they came from two of Lakeland’s biggest rival schools with Amanda graduating from Lakeland and Korey from Kathleen. A house divided between Dreadnaughts and Red Devils stirs up some playful trouble. They are very happy with their home dynamics consisting of three children and a dog and have no plans of changing that.

On Christmas day Korey gave her a gift bag to open. Inside she found a Michael Kors purse and of course she was ecstatic about it. He then told her to look at all the pockets that were inside the purse. As she began to go through the purse she found a little ring box inside and she immediately began to cry. Not knowing what her answer was, Korey said “so is that a yes?” And of course it was. They plan to get married in September downtown where their love story began and are excited to see what God has in store for their future.

We are so excited for this time to celebrate with Amanda and Korey and are thrilled to see what is going to come next for them. It is during times like these that we are fortunate enough to reflect on all of life’s blessings and make plans for the joyful time of two people joining together as one.
