At Brooks Law Group, we pride ourselves on being an active part of the Winter Haven community. We love participating in events that support local charities and service organizations. This past Sunday we were able to do just that. The Dewdney family hosted the first annual Summerfest at their First Street location of Louise’s Hershey Ice Cream Shop. The event benefitted the Boys and Girls Club of Winter Haven and was a huge success.

This philanthropic family has been a pillar of the community for decades with Terry Dewdney at the helm of their growing business. The Dewdney’s owns the ice cream store, a car wash and is opening a barber shop in their family business plaza on the 1600 block of First Street. The business has taken on a multi-generational tone and Justin Dewdney; Terry’s son, was the driving force behind Louise’s First Annual Summerfest event. Justin has a natural gift for bringing people together and creating excitement that is contagious. It is clear he has a passion for giving back to the community.

The participants ranged from Primerica Investments, Wilson Advocacy Group, P.A., Hurst Chapel AME Church, Spoety’s Sweet Life, Magical Blue Skies Boutique, Bouncetastic Party Rentals and many more.

Lowe’s donated a wood working project for the kids with all the tools. Winter Haven Fire Department was on hand with a fire truck and provided some relief from the heat by demonstrating the hoses while the children played in the water. Winter Haven Police officers were out showing their support as well. Trainer K.I.M. (Keep It Moving) taught a line dance and the dancing continued all day long with Musical Force Productions DJ Services. It was a great feeling seeing some clients and familiar faces as well as making new connections for a great cause.

The air was filled with fun, music and the sweet smell of fresh BBQ. It was a great time for all. Thank you Louise’s Ice Cream Parlor and the Dewdney family for all you do. It is a pleasure being your partner in helping the Winter Haven Community. We can’t wait for next year! Visit our Facebook page to get information on events and our firm.
