Register to Vote at Our Office!

As November approaches, there’s one question you’re sure to hear over and over again. Are you registered to vote? Though it may seem redundant, this is an important thing to remember! This year’s General Election will be as important as ever, and it’s your right to make your voice heard. But you can’t do that if you don’t register to vote!

Until September 30, you can stop by our 105 1st St. North office in Winter Haven to fill out a Florida voter registration application. Brooks Law Group is an official Third-Party Voter Registration Organization. Our employee registration agents will ensure that your application’s safe delivery to the Polk County Supervisor of Elections. The deadline to register to vote in the November 3 General Election is October 5.

What Do I Need to Register to Vote in Florida?

Only those who are US citizens, legal residents of Florida, and at least 18 years old are eligible to register to vote. You must not have been adjudicated mentally incapacitated for voting or be convicted of a felony without having your right to vote restored. Also, you have to be a legal resident of the county you would like to register in.

Here’s what you need if you’re coming into our office to register:

  • Florida Driver’s License OR
  • Florida Identification Card OR
  • Last 4 digits of your Social Security Number

Registering to vote allows you to participate in both general and primary elections. Florida is a closed primary election state. You can only vote for your party’s candidates if you register for that party. Although the primary elections have passed, this is important to be ready for in the future.

Your voter status also must be up to date, and you can do that in our office, too. You have to update your registration with address, name, or political party changes. You can check your Florida voter status here.

Why Should I Register to Vote?

Voting is a constitutional right for United States citizens. Choosing to vote means that you are exercising this right. Democracy means that we can make our voices heard and decide on the issues that are important to us. Don’t you want to take advantage of such an important opportunity?

Our nation is so large and diverse that we all have different needs and opinions. By participating in an election, you are lending your opinion to important matters that affect us all. If you don’t speak up, you won’t be heard.

What Will Be Decided in the General Election?

The most important issue voted on in the general election is the next president. With the presidential races heating up, it’s likely you have heard from the candidates. You get a say in which candidate is chosen! This person will be our president for at least the next four years, and you have the chance to choose them.

Locally, state representatives will be up for election on November 3 as well. We will be able to vote for state representatives, Congress representatives, state amendments, and more. These are equally important as the presidential election. You can read more on local election matters by clicking here.
