Transvaginal Mesh Lawsuits

Women are turning to attorneys to file lawsuits after suffering serious side effects from transvaginal mesh.

The medical device has been shown in studies to cause serious health problems, tragically harming the quality of life for the women living with it.

What is Transvaginal Mesh?

Transvaginal Mesh is a surgical mesh that is used by doctors for the repair of pelvic floor disorders. These disorders include pelvic organ prolapse which is very common in some women due to age, obesity, or childbirth. These types of disorders are known to cause symptoms such as urinary incontinence, discomfort, and/or pain.

Healthcare doctors and patients have been issued a safety communication warning by the FDA about transvaginal mesh/bladder slings that if inserted through the vagina to treat POP (pelvic organ prolapse) it may present increased risk for patients than different options.

The FDA reported more than 1500 reports of problems associated with the devices between 2008-2010. This is 5 times more than problems reported between 2005-2007.

The following complaints as a result of the placement of transvaginal mesh are:

  • Erosion of mesh into vaginal tissue
  • Pain
  • Infection
  • Organ Perforation
  • Painful Intercourse
  • Urinary and Fecal Incontinence

Many times, women require surgery to have the mesh removed. Unfortunately, there are some cases where multiple procedures are done to attempt remove the mesh and are not successful in removing all of it.

Victims who have received bladder slings or transvaginal mesh to repair pelvic floor disorders such as POP may be able to hold the manufacturer liable and may be entitled to compensation for damages caused by the device and for their pain and suffering.

If you or someone you love has received a  transvaginal mesh/bladder sling in an attempt to treat POP or any other type of pelvic disorder, and is experiencing any complications (as listed above) you may have a claim.
